This incident comes just a month after a similar case in Udupi district, where eight Bangladeshi nationals were found residing illegally for three years. One of them, Mohammed Maniq, attempted to flee to Dubai from Mangaluru airport using a fake passport. Immigration officials flagged the document and handed him over to the Bajpe police in Dakshina Kannada district.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the other seven individuals in Udupi had also procured fake Aadhaar cards. A case was registered at the Bajpe police station, and further action was taken.
