Karnataka elections: Siddaramaiah says he is ready to make way for a Dalit CM

He said he is ready to make way for a dalit CM and that he has no objection if the High Command decides to choose a dalit CM.

New Delhi: As polling for Karnataka assembly elections concludes successfully with exit polls predicting a hung assembly, incumbent chief minister Siddaramaiah in his latest statement said that he would not mind sacrificing the top post to make a way for a Dalit chief minister. Hinting at Congress' Dalit card, he said he is ready to make way for a Dalit chief minister in the state and that he has no objection if the High Command wishes so. Earlier in the day he had rejected the exit polls of major channels which showed trends of BJP gaining maximum seats in the elections. Mocking the exit polls he tweeted: “Exit opinion polls are entertainment for the next 2 days. Relying on poll of polls is like a person who can’t swim crossing a river on foot relying on a statistician who told him the average depth of the river is 4 feet. Please note average of 6+4+2 is 4. At 6 feet you drown! So, Dear party workers, supporters & well wishers, don’t worry about exit polls. Relax & enjoy your weekend. We are coming back.” Prior to the elections he had said: “We are very confident of retaining power. There is no question of a hung Assembly at all.” The Chief Minister contested from Chamundeshwari in Mysuru and Badami in Bagalkot district in the state's northwest region. He fielded his son Yatindra from his hometown Varuna in Mysuru district.
