Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will fulfill a one-of-a-kind commitment by acting as a "bus conductor" for a day on June 11. This symbolic gesture is part of the implementation of the 'Shakti' scheme, a major electoral promise made by the Karnataka Congress government. The programme aims to empower women by providing free transportation on state-owned buses. The government's goal with this initiative is to improve accessibility and promote gender equality in public transport throughout the state.

Siddaramaiah will serve as a conductor on Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus route 43, issuing tickets to passengers, news agency PTI reported citing sources from the Chief Minister's Office.

The bus will depart from the city's Majestic area and arrive near the Vidhana Soudha. As per the report, Siddaramaiah will interact with passengers as well as issue tickets. The party's core team devised this strategy in order to maximise mileage and coverage in order to reach out to the general public.

Siddaramaiah will address a public function at the Vidhana Soudha after taking on the role of a conductor, it said.
