Kanchenjunga Express Collision: 24 Trains Diverted Via Alternative Routes — Check List
The Kanchanjungha Express collided with a goods train, derailing nine carriages and disrupting rail traffic. Twenty-four trains were diverted, check the list here.
A serious collision involving the 13174 Agartala-Sealdah Kanchanjungha Express and a goods train carrying containers occurred early this morning between Rangapani and Chatterhat stations under the Katihar division of the North Frontier Railway. The incident took place at approximately 08:55 hrs, around 10 kilometres from New Jalpaiguri station.
In response to the accident, an Accident Relief Medical team, along with men and machinery, was immediately dispatched to the scene. Senior officials from New Jalpaiguri and Katihar, including the General Manager of N.F. Railway, Shri Chetan Kr. Shrivastava, promptly arrived at the site to oversee the relief operations, as per a statement by the Railways.

The collision resulted in the derailment of four coaches from the rear side of the Kanchanjungha Express and five wagons of the goods train, severely disrupting train movements on both Up and Down lines.
