'I Would Apologise If...' Kamal Haasan On Warning By Pro-Kannada Groups Over Language Remark

Kamal Haasan maintained his innocence and love for Karnataka, stating that he would only apologize if he was genuinely wrong.

Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief and veteran actor Kamal Haasan has stood firm amid growing criticism from pro-Kannada groups, asserting that he would not issue an apology over his recent comments about the Kannada language. The actor-politician made it clear that he would only apologise if he was genuinely at fault — which he insists is not the case here.

"It is a democracy. I believe in the law and justice. My love for Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala is true. Nobody will suspect it except for those who have an agenda. I've been threatened earlier too, and if I am wrong, I would apologise, if I'm not, I won't...," said MNM President Kamal Haasan.

Kamal Haasan's remarks come after Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) said that they would not permit the release of the actor's 'Thug Life' in the state. "Many Kannada groups have demanded a ban on his movie. So, we met and discussed the matter, and we've decided that he should apologise. We agree that what he did was wrong, and we are trying to meet and talk to him," said KFCC president M Narasimhalu.
