J&K: Indian Army Arrests 5 Miltant Supporter Suspects, Arms And Ammunitions Recovered In Kupwara
Security forces have arrested 5 people in Kupwara, 1 AK-47 has been recovered
Five people, suspected to be militant supporters have been arrested in a joint operation by Security forces in north Kashmir’s Kupwara, and huge quantities of arms and ammunition recovered from their possession.
An army spokesperson said that a joint operation was launched late yesterday evening on Police inputs at Lalpora Kupwara and during the search, three suspects were apprehended.
The army spokesperson further said that One AK 47 and 2 pistols with magazines and ammunition were recovered from their possession.
During the searches, two more suspects were apprehended for their involvement in the transportation and handling of the weapons.
Meanwhile, police also confirmed the incident and said that the operation in the area was still in process and more arrests are expected.
A case in this regard has been registered and investment has set into motion, however, it is not clear which organisation arrested persons and arms belong to.
Also, the Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday (August 10) arrested two overground workers (OGWs) in North Kashmir's Sopore. The police also recovered arms and ammunition including one hand grenade-1 and AK-47 rounds-20 from the arrested militant associates.
The accused were caught during the Naka checking at Darpora Bomai which was laid by a joint team of Army’s 22 RR, SOG Sopore, CRPF 92,179.
