Jammu & Kashmir Put On Alert Ahead Of PM Modi's All-Party Meet On Thursday

This will be PM Modi's first interaction with leaders of the Valley ever since August 5, 2019, when Centre abrogated Jammu & kashmir's special status and bifurcated it into two UTs.

Srinagar: An alert has been sounded in Jammu & Kashmir for the next 48 hours ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's all-party meeting with political leaders of the Union Territory on June 24 (Thursday).

According to reports, a similar order has been issued by the administration for areas along the Line of Control (LoC).

PM Modi will chair an all-party meeting of political leaders from the valley and National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah-led People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) has agreed to attend the meeting. 

The leaders of the constituent parties, including Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti and CPI(M) leader M Y Tarigami along with former CM Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah are most likely to attend the meeting. 

Even senior Congress party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has been invited to attend the meeting. 

Other regional parties of Jammu & Kashmir will also attend the meeting.  

A report by Dainik Jagran stated that internet services in the Union Territory could also be snapped on Friday when the meeting will take place.

Agenda Of All-Party Meet

An early completion of delimitation of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly seats and general elections are such issues on which the eyes of the country are focussed. However, the government has not shared any formal agenda of the meeting.

Meanwhile, every political party including the PDP, Congress, PC, Apni Party, CPI M, Panthers Party except the BJP insist that restoration of statehood is basic to the revival of a legitimate political process.
