Terrorist Gunned Down In Encounter In Jammu And Kashmir's Rajouri

A terrorist was gunned down in an encounter with security forces in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu, Mukesh Singh informed. The encounter began during a cordon and search operation by the police and the Army at Gundha-Khawas village in the Budhal area after forces received information about the presence of terrorists there, officials said, as reported by news agency PTI.

A few gunshots were heard from the besieged village and reinforcements were rushed to the spot, the officials told PTI. The ADGP in Jammu informed that the gunbattle was going on. According to feedback from the ground, one terrorist has been killed so far, the officer said, as per PTI.

This development comes after three Army personnel were killed in an encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Friday evening.

On Friday, police informed that three jawans got injured in an encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, they later succumbed to their injuries.

The gunbattle broke out in the higher reaches of the Halan forest area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir, they said. The police also informed that a search in the area has been intensified as the injured personnel were being evacuated to the hospital for treatment. 

"Three (03) jawans got injured in the encounter. They are being evacuated to hospital for treatment. Search in the area intensifies. Further details shall follow," the Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.

In another important development in the Kashmir valley, police on Friday apprehended three terrorist associates associated with the proscribed terror outfit 'The Resistance Front' (TRF) in the Natipora area of Srinagar.
