Internet & Bulk SMS Services Suspended In Haryana's Nuh Ahead Of 'Shobha Yatra' On Monday

The Haryana government has announced that internet and bulk SMS services will be suspended in Nuh as a precautionary measure ahead of 'Shobha Yatra'.

The Mobile internet and bulk SMS services have been suspended in Haryana's Nuh ahead of a 'Shobha Yatra' that is scheduled for Monday. This development comes just two days after the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) said that they will be going ahead with their Brij Mandal Jal Abhishek Yatra on Monday. Internet services have been suspended from 12:00 noon on Saturday till midnight on Monday, reported news agency ANI while citing an official statement.

The VHP on August 13 said that they would bring out a Brij Mandal Jal Abhishek Yatra on August 28, however, the Haryana government authorities denied permission for the Yatra while citing apprehensions of disturbance of law and order which were expressed by local police as well as the intelligence agencies. Nuh Deputy Commissioner on Friday wrote to the state’s Home Department and recommended stopping the internet and bulk messages service in the district, reported ANI. After this, orders were issued today by the Home Secretary of the state to stop internet service from Saturday to Monday.

The precaution comes just a few weeks after the violence that broke out during a religious procession in the district. A fresh case of violence was reported on Friday when three policemen, including a sub-inspector, were injured after a group of 30-40 people allegedly pelted stones at them when they were escorting a suspect of Nuh violence for questioning on Friday.

As per the police officials, a team of three police personnel which was being led by sub-inspector Vineet came under attack when they were at the Singaar village in the Nuh district. The policemen climbed into a vehicle with the suspect and right after this, a group of 30-40 people started pelting stones at them, reported PTI. Following this fresh case of violence, additional force was called in and the police rounded up nine persons, including five women, in connection with the incident.
