Indore Fire Case: 'Jilted Lover' Torched Woman's Scooter Causing Blaze That Led To 7 Deaths, Arrested

New Delhi: The Indore police on Sunday arrested a man who was allegedly responsible for the fire incident in a building in Swarna Bhag colony that killed seven and injured nine others on early Saturday morning. According to a report by news agency PTI, the man set the scooty of a girl on fire after his marriage proposal was rejected. The fire then engulfed the building causing the deaths.
“A jilted lover, who allegedly caused a fire at a residential building in Indore that left 7 dead & 9 injured, arrested, an official said. The accused torched a woman's scooter residing in the building after she rejected his marriage offer. The fire then engulfed the building,” PTI reported.

The fire took place on early Saturday morning in a two-storey building in Indore. During the preliminary investigation, the fire department said that the cause of the fire may be a short circuit.
Later, the Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan had also expressed condolences to the kin of the deceased. He also announced an Ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh.
“The sad news of the untimely demise of many precious lives was received in the accident due to a short circuit in Swarn Bagh Colony of Indore. I pray to God to give place to the departed souls at his feet and give strength to the family members to bear this deep sorrow and to give speedy recovery to the injured,” CM Chouhan had tweeted.
“The news of the death in Indore fire incident is extremely heartbreaking. I have ordered an inquiry into it. Strict action will be taken against whoever is found to be negligent. Rs 4 lakh each will be given to the next of kin of the deceased,” he had tweeted.
