MP: 7 Charred To Death After Blaze In 2-Storey Building In Indore, CM Shivraj Chouhan Announces Ex Gratia

New Delhi: At least seven people were charred to death on Saturday morning after a fire broke out in a two-storey building in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. Nine have been rescued so far, Indore Police Commissioner Harinarayana Chari Mishra told news agency ANI. The incident took place in Indore’s Swarna Bhag colony, the police said.
Police Commissioner Mishra said, “Seven people have died and nine people have so far been rescued by officials present at the spot.”

As per the reports, early investigations suggest that the fire was triggered by a short circuit.
A fire department official also shed light on the reason for the blaze and how it was controlled. He said, “The fire might have started due to a short circuit. It took us three hours to bring the fire under control.”
As per the ANI report, further investigation is underway in the case.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan also expressed his condolences to the victims.
“The sad news of the untimely demise of many precious lives was received in the accident due to a short circuit in Swarn Bagh Colony of Indore. I pray to God to give place to the departed souls at his feet and give strength to the family members to bear this deep sorrow and to give speedy recovery to the injured,” he wrote on Twitter this morning.

CM Chouhan also announced an Ex-Gratia of Rs 4 lakh for the kin of the deceased. He also ordered a probe into the incident and strict action against the negligent.
