Indian Student Missing In UK, BJP Leader Seeks Jaishankar's Help

EAM Jaishankar's help has been sought as an Indian student went missing in East London.

BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa has sought the help of External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar in locating an Indian student named Gurashman Singh Bhatia who went missing from East London, UK on December 15. Bhatia was a student of Loughborough University and has been missing for the past two days, said Sirsa in a post on X (Formerly known as Twitter).

Sirsa tweeted, "GS Bhatia, a student of Loughborough University, has been missing since December 15. Last seen in Canary Wharf, East London. Bringing to the kind attention of Dr S Jaishankar. We urge Loughborough University and Indian High Commission London to join efforts in locating him. Your assistance is crucial. Please share and spread the word." 

He has requested everyone to contact him on the following numbers if they have any useful information — +917841000005 or +447387431258.

Bhatia was a postgraduate student, as per the image of his university identity card which Sirsa posted on X.

According to news agency IANS, Bhatia was issued a two-year UK residence permit. The permit was valid until June 2, 2024.

The Chief Operating Officer of Loughborough University, Richard Taylor, in a comment on Sirsa's post, wrote, "Thank you, Manjinder. We have been in touch with the friends and family of Ashman. We’ve also contacted London's Metropolitan Police Service to emphasise the importance."

Located in Leicestershire, England, Loughborough University has around 18,000 international students from over 130 countries, according to its official website.
