Indian Railways To Launch Upgraded Amrit Bharat 2.0 Express With 12 Key Features. Check Details
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that 50 train sets of Amrit Bharat 2.0 with 12 key upgrades will be manufactured in the coming two years at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai.
The Ministry of Railways has announced a significant development initiative catering to the lower income groups under which the Amrit Bharat Version 2.0 will be designed and manufactured in the next two years to offer premium train facilities to citizens, combining modern comfort with affordability.
As part of this project, 12 major improvements will be made to the entire frame of Amrit Bharat version 2.0, which Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said was "aimed at enhanced passenger convenience with ergonomically designed seating & other amenities".
He also said that 50 train sets of Amrit Bharat 2.0 will be manufactured in the coming two years at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, which will provide affordable journeys to people with very low income and lower- middle income families, enabling them to travel long distances with a high-quality travel experience.

During an inspection at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, Vaishnaw said the state government should place serving people above politics and that the central government is committed to taking measures for the welfare of the people.
The design of the Amrit Bharat, which was launched by PM Modi in 2024, is based on the experience of Vande Bharat sleeper. "The general coach has features like comfortable seats, charging points, mobile phone and water bottle holders and more," Vaishnaw said. He further said that the entire pantry car in Amrit Bharat 2.0 trains have ben built using a new design.
Key Upgrades of Amrit Bharat Express Version 2.0
According to Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Amrit Bharat Express version 2.0 will be rolled out with 12 key improvements. These enhancements include:
- Affordable premium travel
- Passenger comfort includes redesigned aluminum luggage racks for more space, ergonomic handles, chains with locking system, and ladders for easy access, and aluminium extrusions for upper berth and thicker seat cushions providing more comfort during long journeys.

The Railway Minister also said that the Tamil Nadu government should extend its support as land allocation to the Ministry has been a major issue, PTI reported. "We need the support of the state government in land acquisition. We must make sure that people's facilities are above politics and we must look at the welfare of the people first. I have requested the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu (M K Stalin) to support us," he said.
