Indian Muslims On Path To Become Second Class Citizens, PM Can’t Shrug Off Blame: Mahmood Madani
Maulana Mahmood Madani said that Indian Muslims are “unhappy” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dispensation adding that he “of course” holds PM Modi responsible for the same.
New Delhi: Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind President and former Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Maulana Mamood Madani criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that Indian Muslims are on path of becoming second class citizens and that the PM cannot shrug off responsibility for the same.
In an exclusive interview with ABP News, Madani said: “...there is a growing feeling, (amongst Muslims) that if this situation continues then they will soon become second grade citizens in India.”
On being asked who did he hold primarily responsible for this and whether he felt that it was the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who should be accountable, Madani replied, “If this is the situation today, then it is the current government that has to take responsibility and if the Prime Minister is Modi then yes he will be in focus.”
On the issue of Gyanvapi mosque, the president of the muslim body said that the issue should be resolved either through reconciliation or courts, not by indulging in “cock-fights”.
“I just want to say two things — in any civilised society, there are two ways of resolving conflicts and differences. One way is through reconciliation and another method is through the courts. What is happening now is that people are indulging in cock-fights. We believe that the correct path should be chosen to resolve the issue.”
Maulana Mahmood Madani, critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attitude towards the Muslims of India said: “Muslims of India are a dissatisfied lot and they hold PM Modi responsible for them feeling this way.”
Madani said that Muslims are “unhappy” under PM Modi’s dispensation adding that he “of course” holds Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible for the same.
