Indian Muslims Have Nothing To Do With Jinnah, Akhilesh Should Educate Himself: Asaduddin Owaisi

Asaduddin Owaisi’s advise for Akhilesh Yadav comes as one of his recent statements mentioning Muhammad Ali Jinnah along with Sardar Patel and Mahatma Gandhi is garnering widespread reactions.

New Delhi: The president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party, Asaduddin Owaisi, on Monday shared his reaction over Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s comment mentioning Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Asaduddin Owaisi said: “Akhilesh Yadav should understand that Indian Muslims have nothing to do with Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Our elders rejected the two-nation theory and chose India as their country”.

“If Akhilesh Yadav thinks that by giving such statements he can make a section of people happy, I think he is wrong and he should change his advisers. He should also educate himself and read some history,” Owaisi added.

The AIMIM chief’s advise for the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister comes as one of his recent statements mentioning Muhammad Ali Jinnah along with Sardar Patel, Mahatma Gandhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru is garnering widespread reactions.

On the occasion of the 146th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel which is celebrated as ‘National Unity Day’, Akhilesh Yadav was addressing a gathering when he remarked that Sardar Patel, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Muhammad Ali Jinnah studied in the same institute, where they became barristers and fought for India’s independence.

“Sardar Patel, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and (Muhammad Ali) Jinnah studied in the same institute. They became barristers and fought for India’s freedom... It was Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who imposed a ban on an ideology (RSS),” the Samajwadi party president had said, as quoted by ANI.

Earlier today, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also trained guns at Akhilesh Yadav saying that should apologise to the people of the country for comparing Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who worked towards uniting the nation, with Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who divided India.

“Yesterday, I was listening to Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav’s statement. He was comparing Jinnah, who divided the country, with the Saradar Vallabhbhai Patel, who united the country. This is extremely shameful. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel laid the foundation of India’s unity and integrity and is its creator,” Adityanath said while addressing people in Moradabad, as reported by ANI.

The Chief Minister remarked that the opposition leader’s “divisive mindset” came to the fore once again as he “tried to glorify Jinnah”.

“His divisive mindset came to the fore once again when he tried to glorify Jinnah by equating Sardar Patel with him. It’s Talibani mentality that believes in dividing. SP national president should apologize for this,” CM Adityanath said.

He further added: “The whole society and the state should condemn this. SP national president should ask for an apology from the people of the country. The country cannot accept the insult of the creator of India’s integrity”.

While Yogi Adityanath states that the people of the state and the country will not accept such a “divisive mindset”, Akhilesh Yadav has been asserting that SP will return to power in the crucial 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election.
