Why firing was not involved?
In 1996, India and China had signed an LAC peace treaty as per which none of the two countries can use their military capabilities against each other along their disputed boundaries.
Article 1 of the treaty reads as : "Neither side shall use its military capability against the other side. No armed forces deployed by either side in the border areas along the line of actual control as part of their respective military strength shall be used to attack the other side, or engage in military activities that threaten the other side or undermine peace, tranquility and stability in the India-China border areas. Why were soldiers sent unarmed? Rahul questions
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday questioned why Indian soldiers were sent "unarmed to martyrdom" in Ladakh and who is responsible for sending them towards danger. His fresh attack came a day after he asked Defence Minister Rajnath Singh why he did not name China in his tweet and why it took him two days to condole the deaths of 20 Army personnel.
"China has committed a big crime by killing unarmed Indian soldiers. I want to ask who sent these bravehearts towards danger without arms and why. Who is responsible for this," he asked in a video message.
"How dare China kill our UNARMED soldiers? Why were our soldiers sent UNARMED to martyrdom," he said.
