'True Sportsmanship': Shah, Anurag, Rahul Gandhi Express Support For Team India After WC Loss

India vs Australia World Cup Final 2023: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lauded Team India's efforts in the summit clash.

As India faced an unexpected defeat against Australia in the World Cup final, political leaders took to social media to express their support and admiration for the cricket team's journey. Several prominent leaders like Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi besides Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Team India's efforts in the summit clash.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah shared his thoughts on X, stating, "Our team played exceptionally well throughout the World Cup and delivered memorable performances. True sportsmanship involves emerging stronger from both triumphs and setbacks. I firmly believe that you will emerge even stronger."

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, in a post, highlighted the resilience and determination of Team India. He wrote, "Defeat stings, but our team's resilience shines brighter than any scoreboard. Today, at the World Cup, we fought valiantly till the last ball, showcasing grit, skill, and unwavering determination. Though the victory eluded us this time, our players battled with hearts of lions, proving that true champions rise, no matter the outcome. We stand tall, proud of our team's spirit and sportsmanship. This loss isn't an end; it's a chapter in our journey of perseverance. Heads held high, we march on. Our love and support forever with our Champions!"

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi posted on X, saying, "Team INDIA, you played solidly well through the tournament! Win or lose - we love you either way and we will win the next one. Congratulations to Australia for a well-deserved World Cup victory."

Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge congratulated Team Australia on their victory and praised India for playing well and winning hearts. He expressed pride in India's remarkable performance throughout the World Cup, assuring the team of continued support and cheers from every Indian. Kharge said, "Congratulations Team Australia. India played well and won hearts. Your talent and sportsman’s spirit were visible in the game. Every single Indian is proud of your remarkable performance throughout the World Cup. We will always cheer for you and cherish your accomplishments."

"Congratulations to Australia on a magnificent #WorldCup victory! 🏆 Kudos to #TeamIndia for a spirited run to the finals, showcasing unbeatable form till the semis. Your resilience and passion were truly commendable!," posted Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the team for their talent and determination. He tweeted, "Dear Team India, Your talent and determination through the World Cup were noteworthy. You've played with great spirit and brought immense pride to the nation. We stand with you today and always."

The Prime Minister also extended congratulations to Australia for their magnificent World Cup victory, praising their commendable performance throughout the tournament. Modi specifically acknowledged Travis Head for his remarkable game in the final.

In a rare instance, the Congress party quoted the BJP's post ahead of the World Cup clash to support team India.

India's dreams of securing a third World Cup title were shattered after a surprising defeat against Australia. Despite notable contributions from Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and K L Rahul, India posted a below-par total of 240. Travis Head's outstanding innings of 137 guided Australia to a six-wicket victory, securing their record-extending sixth World Cup title.
