Bizarre! BJP Youth Wing Leader Claims India Got Independence On '99-Yr Lease' — Watch Video
BJP youth wing activist claimed that India has not got complete freedom from the erstwhile British empire in 1947 as it gave our nation independence on a 99-year-lease.
New Delhi: Making a bizarre claim during a digital news debate show, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Yuva Morcha activist Ruchi Pathak stirred a meme fest on social media sites when she confidently claimed that India got independence from the British empire on a "99-year lease".
It all happened during an election special show organised by The Lallantop in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi, where an oblivious BJP youth wing activist claimed that India has not got complete freedom from the erstwhile British empire in 1947 as it gave our nation independence on a 99-year-lease.
In the video, which is now going viral on social media, Pathak can be heard saying that "Jawaharlal Nehru brought India its independence on a 99-years lease from the British Crown".

According to the claims made by Pathak further, Britishers were not in the favour of giving freedom to India despite attempts by Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru and that is why Nehru took oath on British Crown and not the Indian Constitution when he took oath as the first Prime Minister of India.
The activist also said that the Indian National Congress was formed in 1951 and blamed it for this leased independence of India.
Other panellists present during the programme said that it is a popular conspiracy theory spread using social media platforms including WhatsApp and Youtube.
