Electricity, Water, Heaters & Beds: Indian Army Gets Modern Living Facilities For Troops In Ladakh

Over the past few months, Indian Army and China's PLA have held eight rounds of military talks at the Corps Commander level to find a resolution, yet there is no breakthrough.

While both India and China are in continuous talks to simmer down the border disputes, the Indian Army has set up smart and modern habitat facilities for all troops deployed in the Eastern Ladakh to ensure operational efficiency of troops in winters. ALSO READ | India-China Standoff: Indian Army Stocks Up Kits, Essential Supplies In Ladakh As Winter Nears Eastern Ladakh is a sector that receives up to 40 feet of snow after November every year with temperatures falling up to negative 30-40 degrees. According to the reports, integrated arrangements for electricity, water, heating facilities, health and hygiene have been recently put in place for sustaining the harsh winter. Fast erectable modular shelters have also been included in the living accommodation that will protect the troops from the severe cold and wind chills. A video posted by ANI shows accommodation for the troops with beds, cupboards and heaters. Some rooms have single beds, while a living room has bunk beds.
Moreover, separate shelters for material and equipment have also been established to save it from the heavy snow. "hey have been discussing the modalities for doing so in a phased manner," defense sources told ANI. In June also, the two sides were discussing disengagement when the Galway incident took place in which 20 Indian soldiers lost lives while a large number of Chinese troops also lost their lives.
