Weather Update: Ahead of Independence Day celebrations, the IMD has issued a 'yellow' alert in several states, including the national capital, precting heavy showers. 

Weather Update: As the nation braces itself to celebrate Independence Day on Thursday, August 15, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a "yellow" alert predicting heavy rainfall in the national capital.

The IMD, in its latest bulletin on Wednesday, predicted heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms in several parts of India. The weather office has issued a "yellow" alert in several parts of Northwest India.

A "yellow" alert indicates severely bad weather spanning across several days. It also suggests that the weather could change for the worse, causing disruption in day-to-day activities.

The alert has been issued in several states, including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi, for the next three to four days.

In an evening bulletin on Tuesday, the weather office said that heavy rainfall is likely in Madhya Pradesh and the Gujarat region today. During the week, fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall is very likely over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Konkan, Goa, and Gujarat Region.

Northeast Weather Forecast

The weather office has predicted isolated heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh from August 13th to 15. As far as Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are concerned, heavy downpours are likely from August 13 to 16. During the week, showers are also likely in Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, and Odisha.

Rain Forecast In South India

The MeT department has said that isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Lakshadweep in the coming days till August 17.
