'We Will Do It Again And Again': IAF Chief Lauds Team After Daring Night Rescue Op In Sudan

Hailing the IAF for carrying out the operation successfully, Chaudhari said that the IAF displayed its core capability of being able to carry our operations in the most difficult of situations.

After the successful rescue operation conducted by the Indian Air Force on the night of April 27, 28, 2023, rescuing 121 personnel from a small airstrip at Wadi Seidna, which is about 40 km North of Khartoum, Sudan, IAF chief VR Chaudhari said that whenever the times come we will do it again and again. Hailing the IAF for carrying out the operation successfully, Chaudhari said that the IAF displayed its core capability of being able to carry our operations in the most difficult of situations.

“I think the IAF displayed its core capability of being able to carry our operations in the most difficult of situations and my kudos to the aircrew who executed this mission so flawlessly. I want to assure the nation that whenever the times come we will do it again and again,” IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari said as quoted by the news agency ANI.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) in an operation carried out by the C-130J aircraft on the night of April 27, 28, 2023, rescued 121 personnel from a small airstrip at Wadi Seidna, which is about 40 km North of Khartoum, Sudan. The passengers included medical cases, including a pregnant lady, besides those who had no means to reach Port Sudan, the IAF said in a statement.

The convoy was led by the Indian Defence Attache who was in continuous touch with IAF authorities all along, till they reached the airstrip at Wadi Seidna. The airstrip in question had a degraded surface, with no navigational approach, aids or fuel, and most critical or landing lights (that are required to guide an aircraft landing at night).

Speaking on the future of private sector in aerospace Force, VR Chaudhari said that the democratisation of space through the new policies issued in the last one or two years, is the biggest revolution that has taken place in our environment.

“I think the democratization of space through the new policies issued in the last one or two years, is the biggest revolution that has taken place in our environment. So it definitely has opened up the avenues for private players to come in. And now, the sky's the limit or space the limit to see where we can integrate their capabilities with our requirements,” VR Chaudhari said as quoted by ANI.
