‘I Am Being Told To Leave’, BJP MP Claims Being Forced Out Of Udaipur Ahead Of Congress' Chintan Shivir

"I have informed the Rajasthan leader of opposition Gulab Chand Kataria, (BJP state president) Satish Poonia, and (deputy leader of the opposition) Rajendra Rathore about the matter," he added.

New Delhi: Ahead of Congress’ Chintan Shivir that is scheduled to begin today in Udaipur, BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena alleged on Thursday that he was pressured by the police to leave the city. Meena added that he reached the city on Wednesday to attend a condolence meeting and was also invited to a tribal conference in Dhariawad on May 14 but the police did not allow him to move out of his hotel.

According to news agency PTI, the MP was taken from Udaipur to Jaipur by police later on Wednesday evening. Meena said that they halted in Beawar (Ajmer) where he shot a video stating the whole event.

In the video, he also stated that he will attend a 'Sadhan Shivir' of Shankaracharya in Pushkar, and if stopped then he will hold a dharna.

Meena also added that police were deployed outside his hotel.

"I am being told to leave (Udaipur). They are pressuring me. Officers say they have orders from their higher-ups but could not show me the orders. This is a violation of my rights and murder of democracy," he said in the video statement.

"I have informed the Rajasthan leader of opposition Gulab Chand Kataria, (BJP state president) Satish Poonia, and (deputy leader of the opposition) Rajendra Rathore about the matter," he added.

Meena also said that he wanted to hold a press conference in Udaipur to draw Sonia Gandhi’s attention to the fact that the hotel where Congress’ Chintan Shivir was being held was illegal.
He added that he wanted to raise issues of law and order, and atrocities against women in the Congress rule in Rajasthan but he was taken away from Udaipur.

"Police picked me from a hotel in Udaipur where I was staying. I had gone there to attend a condolence meeting, I wanted to do a press conference to raise the issues like law and order, migration from the tribal area, exploitation of women, human trafficking, religious conversion, and poverty," he said.

He went on to say that he was being tortured by the police and he would hold a dharna if he would not be allowed to go o Pushkar.

I am being tortured by the police. If the police stop me from going to Pushkar tomorrow, I will hold a dharna," he said.

However, the claims were refuted by Udaipur Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar who said, "There was possibility of disturbance to law and order due to Kirodi Meena's presence in Udaipur. So, he was sent to Jaipur." In the hotel room in Udaipur, he also had a heated argument with the police officers on being asked to leave the place, PTI reported.

In a different video, Meena was seen running on the road with some police officers.

BJP state president Satish Poonia condemned the behaviour of the police.

Meanwhile, Meena has been termed as a “nuisance” by CM Ashok Gehlot as he has been holding protests against the Congress government over various issues.
