Hindu Sena Chief Writes To PM Modi Against Sending Chadar At Ajmer Dargah: 'Suspend This Formality Until...'
The Hindu Sena chief has filed a lawsuit in Ajmer, claiming a Shiva temple of Sankat Mochan Mahadev in Ajmer Dargah. Thefore, he has urged PM Modi against sending the 'chadar'.
Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta has sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to suspend the tradition of sending a 'chadar' to Ajmer Dargah until the dispute regarding the site is sub-judice. PM Modi will be sending a 'chadar' to the revered Ajmer Sharif Dargah during the 813 Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti for the 11th time this year.
Notably, the Hindu Sena chief has filed a lawsuit in the Ajmer West District court, claiming a Shiva temple of Sankat Mochan Mahadev in Ajmer Dargah. The next hearing for this matter is scheduled for January 24.
"The country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru began offering the 'chadar' to Ajmer Sharif dargah every year and since then the formality has continued ,even under the Prime Ministership of current Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji," Vishnu Gupta said in the letter.
In the letter, Gupta has also stated that he has submitted evidence regarding the presence of the ancient temple, which he claims was built by the Chauhan dynasty. He further mentioned filing an application for a scientific survey of the ASI for more evidence to support his claims.
"Similar to the matter of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh dispute, where no Prime Minister in his or her official capacity intervened in the cultural and traditional affairs or visited the disputed site until the matter was sub-judice, I would like to request you for the suspension of this formality of sending a Chadar as an offering through the Office of Prime Minister until the above-mentioned petition is sub-judice," his letter noted.
Speaking to ABP News, Vishnu Gupta said that he has no objection if the PM is sending 'chadar' personally, but if he is sending it from a constitutional post, it would affect his case. Thus, he has requested PM Modi to avoid sending it this year.

This year, the 'chadar' by PM Modi will be presented for the 11th time by Union Minister for Minority and Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju on January 4. Earlier, it was presented by former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who visited the dargah and offered 'chadar' on the PM's behalf.
The annual offering aligns with the Urs, which marks the death anniversary of the revered saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.
Meanwhile, the successor to the Ajmer Dargah chief, Syed Naseerudin Chishti, welcomed the move and remarked that PM Modi's consistency in offering the chadar every year is a testament to his commitment to the country's inclusivity and secularity, news agency IANS reported.
"This tradition, dating back to 1947, has been upheld by every Prime Minister of the country," Chishti stated.
"Since assuming office in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently sent a chadar as a mark of devotion and respect. This reflects India's deep-rooted culture of honouring all religions, communities, and Sufi saints," he told IANS.
