Heatwave in India: Delhi likely to get relief from scorching summer in next 48 hours, predicts IMD

Heatwave in India: The national capital got some respite from the scorching heat on Tuesday. The IMD, for today, predicted a partly cloudy sky with chances of rain or thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.

Heatwave in India: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Delhi and its adjoining areas are likely to get slight relief from the intense heat in the next 48 hours. The minimum and maximum temperatures of the national capital are likely to hover at 30 degree Celsius and 40 degree Celsius tomorrow (June 5). As per the report, the weatherman said slight relief from the stifling heat is expected Tuesday onwards due to the "possibility of thundery development". The national capital got some respite from the scorching heat on Tuesday. The IMD, for today, predicted a partly cloudy sky with chances of rain or thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. The city had been reeling under a heat wave over the last week and witnessing the hottest days of the season for quite a time now. Delhi is recording temperatures like 46-47 degrees Celsius in some parts, giving no respite to the residents of the city. On Monday, the national capital recorded a high of 40.6 degrees Celsius. The Palam Observatory recorded a high of 42.6 degrees Celsius. Besides, the weather forecasting agency also predicted that moderate to heavy rain, thundershowers along with lightning and gusty winds upto 40-50 km per hour with possibility of hail at one or two places very likely to continue in the districts of Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Solan, Shimla, Kinnaur, Sirmaur, Mandi and Kullu in the next few hours. While there was no let-up in heatwave conditions in large swathes of India on Monday, Rajasthan's Churu remained the hottest in the country at 50.3 degrees Celsius. Heat wave conditions in many parts with a severe heat wave in isolated pockets very likely over East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha. East Rajasthan and in isolated pockets over Haryana, Marathwada Chhattisgarh, and Telangana are also likely to bear the brunt of the summer heat.
