‘Support To BJP Unconditional,' Says Gopal Kanda; What You Need To Know About The Controversial MLA
Interacting with mediapersons, Kanda said that the country is progressing at a good rate under Modi government and the independent MLAs have decided to support the BJP without any conditions.
New Delhi: Controversial Haryana legislator and one of the eight MLAs that the BJP is looking to for support - Gopal Kanda, on Friday, said that the independent candidates who have extended support to the BJP have done so “without any condition.”
In a press conference, Kanda said that the country is progressing at a good rate under Modi government and the independent MLAs have decided to support the BJP without any conditions.
Kanda said he cannot name the other independent MLAs who have pledged support to Khattar government.
He said that the Congress is also approaching him but his previous experience with the party wasn’t good.
He said that his family has always been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)
Responding to a question about criminal allegations against him, Kanda told ABP News, that the charges against him hold no grounds and that the case against him is pending in court . "We are fighting the legal battle," he said.
Things to know about Gopal Kanda:
Kanda is a controversial figure in Haryana politics and was once the target of BJP protests.
Kanda was elected to the legislative assembly of the state of Haryana in 2009 as an Independent representative for the Sirsa constituency.
He served for some time as a minister in the Government of Haryana before resigning his post in the wake of legal charges being filed against him.
He founded the Haryana Lokhit Party and contested the 2014 assembly polls unsuccessfully.
Kanda was arrested in 2012, in connection with Geetika Sharma murder case – an air hostess with MDLR airline who had committed suicide, she had left a note accusing Kanda of harassment.
