Haryana Independent MLA Rakesh Daulatabad Passes Away At 45 Due To Heart Attack, PM Modi Expresses Grief

Independent MLA Daulatabad emerged victorious as an independent candidate in the 2019 assembly elections and subsequently endorsed the government of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

45-year-old Independent MLA Rakesh Daulatabad, a candidate from the Badshahpur constituency, died of a heart attack on Saturday. He suffered a heart attack in the morning and was rushed to a private hospital, the police confirmed.

Daulatabad died amid treatment at Manipal Hospital in Gurugram's Palam Vihar, police said, PTI reported.

In the 2019 assembly elections, Daulatabad emerged victorious as an independent candidate and subsequently endorsed the government of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Karan Goel, the family has been informed of the MLA's death.

PM Narendra Modi expressed his grief on his social media handle X over the demise of MLA, saying, "I am deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Haryana MLA Rakesh Daulatabad ji. With his hard work and dedication, he created a distinct identity among the people at a very young age. His demise is a big loss for the state's politics. May God give strength to his family and supporters in this hour of grief. Om Shanti!"

Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini and his forebear Manohar Lal Khattar have also expressed grief over his death and said Daulatabad's demise has created a void in the state's politics. "I am saddened and shocked by the sudden demise of Badshahpur MLA," Saini wrote on X.

Former CM Khattar expressed his grief over the death of Daulatabad and wrote on his X "I am shocked and saddened by the news of the sudden demise of Shri Rakesh Daulatabad, MLA from Badshahpur Assembly. Haryana Assembly has lost a young, energetic member. He will be missed in Haryana politics forever. May God give place to the departed soul in his feet and give strength to the family members to bear this sorrow."

He said that Daulatabad will always be missed in the state's politics and that the Haryana Assembly has lost a youthful and vibrant member.
