Gurmit Singh Appointed Governor Of Uttarakhand, Banwarilal Purohit Gets Punjab, RN Ravi Shifted To Tamil Nadu
The President has also ordered shuffling of Governors of some other states which include shifting Banwarilal Purohit from Tamil Nadu to Punjab.
New Delhi: A day after Baby Rani Maurya tendered her resignation, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh, who retired as the deputy chief of Army, was on Thursday appointed the governor of Uttarakhand. As per a communique by Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Ram Nath Kovind accepted Maurya's resignation and appointed Singh as the Governor of the state.
Additionally, the President has also ordered shuffling of Governors of some other states which include shifting Banwarilal Purohit from Tamil Nadu to Punjab. He was earlier holding the additional charge of Punjab.
Meanwhile, Centre's interlocutor and retired IPS officer RN Ravi has been shifted from Nagaland to Tamil Nadu as its new Governor.
The communique further stated that Jagdish Mukhi, the present Governor of Assam, has been appointed to discharge the functions of the Governor of Nagaland in addition to his charge till a fresh appointment is made.
All these appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices.
