Gujarat Polls: AAP Will Restore 'Old Pension Scheme' After Forming Govt On December 8, Says Raghav Chadha
AAP leader said that despite the demonstrators' extensive efforts, the state's BJP-led administration did not address the problem.
After coming to the power, the Aam Aadmi Party will reinstate old pension scheme (OPS) in Gujarat, AAP Rajya Sabha MP and co-incharge of the party in the state Raghav Chadha said. Highlighting the roadmap of the AAP, Chadha said: "There has been a demand of all government employees in Gujarat that the old pension scheme should be restored in Gujarat and government employees have carried out a huge protest on the streets of Gujarat regarding this demand."
AAP leader said that despite the demonstrators' extensive efforts, the state's BJP-led administration did not address the problem.
"The Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal have promised that when the Aam Aadmi Party's government will be formed in Gujarat on 8 December 2022, then the Aam Aadmi Party in Gujarat will implement the old pension scheme for all government employees in Gujarat," Chadha said while addressing the media.
Chadha said that the AAP had made the same pledge in Punjab prior to the elections and that the programme has already been implemented in the state.
"It has been only 7 months since the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party's government in Punjab, yet we have implemented the old pension scheme for all government employees there," he said.
"The new pension scheme is a loss deal for government employees. I want to tell all of you that it was the BJP that implemented the new pension scheme. When the Bharatiya Janata Party was in power at the Centre in 2002-2003, they imposed the new pension scheme' on government employees. The workers protested then and they are protesting now. But the Aam Aadmi Party is the only government in the whole country that listened to the employees and restored the old pension scheme in Punjab," Chadha said.
"The Punjab government has issued a notification to restore the old pension scheme on November 18, 2022. Now all the government employees of Punjab can take benefit from the old pension scheme. The elections are here, so other parties are also making this promise," he further stated.
Slamming the BJP, Chadha stated: "The BJP had imposed the new pension scheme on the people. Since then a BJP government has been there in many states and there has been a BJP government in the center for the last eight years but still, they did not implement the old pension scheme."
