Gujarat Polls: AAP Appoints Raghav Chadha As Party's Co-Incharge After Major Win In Punjab Election

Chadha has been given more responsibilities following his outstanding performance in Punjab earlier this year, where the AAP won a commanding 79% majority by capturing 92 of 117 seats.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced on Sunday the appointment of Raghav Chadha, a Rajya Sabha MP, as co-incharge of the party's unit in Gujarat, where Assembly elections are scheduled for this year.

Chadha has been given more responsibilities following his outstanding performance in Punjab earlier this year, where the AAP won a commanding 79% majority by capturing 92 of 117 seats.

Sharing the official appointment document, Gujarat AAP on its official Twitter handle writes: "Congratulations and best wishes to Rajya Sabha MP and youth leader Shri @raghav_chadha on his appointment as 'Aap' Gujarat co-in-charge!"

'Unable To Accept AAP's Rising Popularity In Gujarat': Kejriwal Slams PM Modi

Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal unleashed a stinging assault on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, accusing them of attempting to "destroy" the AAP in the guise of combatting corruption as they braced for defeat in the Gujarat elections.

Speaking at his party's first-ever national conclave of elected delegates, Kejriwal also claimed that the Modi administration has been attempting to implicate his party's ministers and officials in phoney corruption cases because the BJP is "unable to accept the AAP's rising popularity in Gujarat."

The BJP is so concerned about the AAP's growing power ahead of the Gujarat assembly polls that "the prime minister's advisor Hiren Joshi has warned several TV channel owners and their editors not to give coverage to the AAP party in Gujarat, threatening them with dire consequences," according to Kejriwal.

There was no quick response from the PMO or Joshi to Kejriwal's accusation.

"Stop doing things. If these editors share the screenshots of Joshi's messages, both the prime minister and his advisor will not be in a position to show their faces to the country," Kejriwal said.

"We are going to form a government in Gujarat," he added.
