'BJP And Congress United To Abuse Me': Arvind Kejriwal On 'Modi, Modi' Chants At Vadodara Airport

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made the remarks hours after he was greeted with 'Modi, Modi' chants at the airport in Vadodara.

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday that the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Congress were united in their aim to "abuse him". Kejriwal made the remarks hours after he was greeted with 'Modi, Modi' chants at the airport in Vadodara.

Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal said BJP supporters never raise slogans against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi when he visits Gujarat, PTI reported.

"When I landed in Vadodara, about 30-40 people in front of me chanted, 'Modi, Modi, Modi.' The situation in Gujarat is such that the BJP will be in serious trouble," the Delhi Chief Minister said.

"I am aware that with elections approaching closer and closer, such protests against me and AAP are going to increase," Kejriwal further said.

Kejriwal is on a day-long visit to Gujarat where the AAP is campaigning aggressively to expand its footprint ahead of the Assembly election later this year.

"It is said that there are 66 seats in urban areas (in Gujarat) which BJP never lost. But this time, they will be in trouble. They are not going to win all these seats (in upcoming Assembly elections)," Kejriwal said.

He claimed that the BJP and Congress were abusing him because he speaks about the well-being of Gujaratis.

"When Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visits Gujarat, BJP supporters never yell anti-Rahul Gandhi slogans. This is because both parties are united in their opposition to me and the AAP. Both the BJP and the Congress raise anti-Kejriwal slogans. They have banded together and are abusing me," he stated.

The Congress and BJP will field national-level leaders in Gujarat "who will abuse me" in the coming days, Kejriwal further said.

Kejriwal is leading the AAP's election campaign in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

During his multiple visits to the state, Kejriwal has promised a string of "guarantees", including free power and the generation of jobs. He also assured the welfare of various sections, including women, youth, lawyers, auto-rickshaw drivers, government employees etc.

On Tuesday, Kejriwal promised the state government employees that if the AAP was voted to power, his government would restore the old pension scheme.
