NEW DELHI: As part of sweeping steps to battle black money, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8 announced that Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes will cease to be legal tender from midnight. The PM  said in a televised address that all the 500 and 1,000 denomination notes can be deposited in banks and post offices between November 10 and December 30. Viral Sach: Did govt use radioactive ink in Rs 2000 notes to trace illegally stashed cash? After Modi’s address, Reserve Bank of India Governor Urjit Patel said the apex bank will launch new Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 currency notes from November 10. Soon after RBI notified that Rs 2000 currency notes would be introduced by the apex bank, a set of rumors emerged that these new notes would be embedded with nano-GPS chips to help locate the position of the currency via a satellite. Viral Sach: PM Modi's video hidden inside new Rs.2000 notes? These rumors spread like a wild fire in the social media and took everyone by storm. However, the video, if closely monitored, appears to be edited and the silver color 'material' was put by the maker of the video to deceive the viewers. Viral Sach: Can a new note of Rs 2000 light a bulb? The newly introduced Rs 2,000 notes do not have any GPS trackers inside the material. The RBI has not mentioned any details about the 'chips' in the notes. Earlier, rumours mentioned that the new notes carried the Nano GPS Chip by the government in order to trace black money being. The rumours also said a radioactive isotope of phosphorous- P32 is used in the new Rs 2,000 currency notes to help I-T department detect illegal wealth.
