Gorakhnath Temple Attack: Air Gun And Pellets Recovered From Accused Murtaza's Residence

The air gun and pellets recovered from Murtaza by police has been handed over to the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), which is investigating the case.

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh police has come across new evidence against the Gorakhnath temple attack accused Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi. 

Murtaza was practicing shooting with an air gun at the rooftop of his residence in Gorakhpur since a long time, according to the police, reported ABP News.

The air gun and pellets recovered from Murtaza has been handed over to the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), which is investigating the case.

UP ATS has formed seven teams, which is carrying out raids in Noida, Kanpur, Sambhal and Saharanpur. An ATS team also visited Lucknow today in relation to the case, reported ABP News.

About a dozen of people from various districts of the state have been picked up by the ATS for investigation. A list of 40-50 people who spoke to Murtaza over the phone or were in touch with him through different modes, has been prepared by the investigating agency.

Meanwhile, ATS today brought Murtaza to its headquarter in Lucknow for further investigation.

Before moving to Lucknow, a medical test was conducted upon Murtaza. His laptop and mobile have also been sent to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for further investigation after several documents written in Arabic language were retrieved from his laptop. Several videos of controversial Islamic preachers instigating hatred were also found in his device.

IIT graduate Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi Sunday forcibly tried to enter the Gorakhnath Temple premises and attacked two on-duty police constables with a sharp weapon that he was carrying in his bag. 

Murtaza was arrested and presented in the local court which sent him to 14 days in judicial custody.
