GHMC Election Results: TRS Wins The Race But BJP Steals The Show

GHMC Election Results: Even as K Chandrasekhar Rao’s TRS managed to grab maximum number of seats, BJP is being hailed as a party which won the battle of Hyderabad.

GHMC Election Results: Bharatiya Janata Party which emerged as the runner-up in the high-stake Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections stole the show by its impressive performance, even though the ruling TRS became the largest party.  The grand show put up by BJP, which had won only three seats in the elections 4 years ago, has marred the TRS victory. Even though, K Chandrakhar Rao’s TRS managed to grab maximum number of seats, BJP is being hailed as a party which won the battle of Hyderabad. The party had infused all its strength in the campaigning for the polls, eyeing to gain grounds in the politics of Hyderabad.  Union Ministers Amit Shah, Prakash Javadekar and Smriti Irani, BJP president J. P. Nadda and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath saw campaigning for BJP, which fought hard to wrest the key municipal body from TRS. BJP's performance in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls is a "moral victory" for the party and it has emerged as the "only alternative" to the ruling TRS in Telangana, its general secretary Bhupender Yadav. The K Chandrasekhar Rao-led TRS had swept the elections four years ago, winning 99 of the 150 wards, whereas the BJP had won only three seats. The BJP's performance has confirmed the trend that it is replacing the Congress as the main challenger to the TRS, Yadav said. The saffron party had won four seats in the state in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and then dealt a surprise defeat to the ruling party in Assembly bypoll in Dubbaka. The BJP invested its full energy in the elections by appointing one of its key electoral managers, Yadav, who had successfully handled the party's campaign in the Bihar assembly polls.
