Fuel Price Hike: Petrol, Diesel Prices Increased For Eighth Consecutive Day, Breach Rs 100-Mark In Many Cities

The price of petrol in Delhi will now be Rs 101.01 per litre, while that of diesel will be Rs 92.27 per litre, according to a price notification of state fuel retailers.

New Delhi: The prices of petrol and diesel were hiked by 80 paise a litre each on Wednesday. This takes the total increase in rates in the last nine days to Rs 5.6 per litre. 

On March 22, there was an end of the four-and-half-month long hiatus in rate revision. Since then, fuel prices were increased for an eighth time on Wednesday, news agency PTI reported. 

The price of petrol in Delhi will now be Rs 101.01 per litre, while that of diesel will be Rs 92.27 per litre, according to a price notification of state fuel retailers.

Previously, the prices of petrol and diesel were Rs 100.21 per litre and Rs 91.47 per litre respectively. 

The prices of petrol and diesel in Mumbai reached Rs 115.88 and Rs 100.10 respectively, in Mumbai. This happened after the prices were increased by 84 paise per litre and 85 paise per litre respectively. 

The price of petrol in Chennai has increased to Rs 106.69 per litre, and that of diesel to Rs 96.76, news agency ANI reported. The prices of petrol and diesel increased by 75 paise per litre and 76 paise per litre respectively. In Kolkata, the prices of petrol and diesel are Rs 110.52 and Rs 95.42 respectively. The rates increased by 84 paise per litre and 80 paise per litre respectively.

The entire country has witnessed an increase in the rates of petrol and diesel. Depending on the incidence of local taxation, the rates differ from state to state.

The prices of petrol and diesel were increased by 80 paise a litre on the first four occasions of hike in rates. This marks the steepest single-day rise since the daily price revision was introduced in June 2017. 

The price of petrol increased by 50 paise and 30 paise a litre on the following days. Meanwhile, the price of diesel hiked by 55 paise and 35 paise a litre on the same days. 

On Tuesday, the price of petrol rose by 80 paise a litre, while that of diesel by 70 paise a litre. Overall, the prices of petrol and diesel have increased by Rs 5.6 per litre each.
