From Properties Worth Over Rs 2 Billion To 1960-Model BMW Car; Check Out Jyotiraditya Scindia's Net Worth

Scindia belongs to the erstwhile Gwalior princely dynasty and owns properties worth over Rs 2 billion, including a palace that he got as part of his inheritance.

New Delhi: Former Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who discontented with the grand old Congress party, which he served for around 18 years, joined the BJP earlier in the day. He was later in the evening nominated by the party for the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh. This decision by Scindia pushed the 15-month-old Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh to the brink of collapse. The reasons for his anger with Congress were clear in his elaborations, the common refrain being: Congress is not what it used to be. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said Jyotiraditya Scindia was one person who could walk into his house anytime, as he was in with him in college. Even Rajasthan Congress chief and Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot termed the development unfortunate and said he wished things could have been fixed within the party "collaboratively". He was the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry in the UPA-II government between 2009 and 2012. He was Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Power between 2012 and 2014. During the Narendra Modi government's first term, Scindia stood as a strong critic who articulated his concerns in the Lok Sabha frequently. Besides, Scindia belongs to the erstwhile Gwalior princely dynasty and owns properties worth over Rs 2 billion, including a palace that he got as part of his inheritance. More to it, he also owns a 1960 model BMW car which is also a part of his inheritance as per the affidavit filed along with nomination papers for the Guna-Shivpuri constituency, in previous Lok Sabha elections, from where he is the MP. Scindia's ancestral property includes Jai Vilas, spread over 40 acres, in Gwalior, as well 19-acre land in Maharashtra's Shrigonda and 43 acres in Limban village. Also, there is Rani Mahal, Hiranvan Kothi, Racquet Court, Shantiniketan, Choti Vishranti, Vijay Bhavan, Picnic Spot, and other residential properties. Their total value is assessed at Rs 2,970,048,500. In the year 2019, he had declared that he has fixed deposits amounting to Rs 30,187,000 and Rs 33,339,827 in movable assets. In his income tax return for the previous financial year, he had declared his annual income at Rs 15,156,720 and his wife Priyadarshni Raje's income at Rs 250,400. In his affidavit, Scindia had said that the annual income from his ancestral property is Rs 467,410. He also owns jewelry weighing 2,066 gm valued at Rs 86,853,219. (with inputs from agencies)
