Meanwhile, the talks between police and farmers’ leaders over the proposed January 26 tractor rally in the national capital remained inconclusive on Friday.
This as both parties remained rigid on their stand. The unions on their part put the ball in the court of the ruling dispensation and said it was the responsibility of the government to maintain peace.
The police officers present at the meeting requested the farmers' union leaders to hold their tractor rally outside Delhi while citing security reasons on the Republic Day, PTI quoted sources as saying.
The farmers’ leaders, however, refused to compromise and categorically stated that they would take out their rally on Delhi’s Outer Ring Road.
The 11th round of talks between the Centre and the farmers' unions in the national capital also remained inconclusive.
Thousands of farmers have been camping in areas bordering Delhi since November 28. They have been demanding the government to repeal the three farm laws and a legal guarantee on MSP for their crops.
