UP Court Likely To Deliver Verdict Against Mukhtar Ansari Today In Fake Ambulance Case

The case involves Mukhtar Ansari's use of a private ambulance registered with fake documents during his imprisonment in Punjab in another case.

The MP-MLA court in Barabanki district, Uttar Pradesh, is likely to pronounce the verdict in the Punjab fake ambulance case, involving gangster Mukhtar Ansari, along with two other co-accused, Shoaib Mujahid and Anand Yadav. Their plea for acquittal was denied by the court earlier this week. The court's decision came during a video conference hearing conducted by Special Sessions Judge Kamalkant Srivastava. The next hearing regarding the charges against them is scheduled for June 9.

The case involves Mukhtar Ansari's use of a private ambulance with registration number UP 41-AT-7171 while he was incarcerated in Mohali Jail in Punjab. He would use the ambulance to commute to and from the court. The ambulance was found to be registered in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, with fraudulent documents. Investigations revealed that the ambulance's registration was based on a fake voter ID card associated with the address of Dr Alka Rai, the director of Shyam Sanjeevani Hospital in Mau district.

Former Additional Resident Commissioner Pankaj Singh lodged a complaint against Dr. Alka Rai on March 31, 2021, leading to the initiation of legal proceedings. The charges against Mukhtar Ansari include sections under the Gangster Act, as well as sections 419, 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code.

The case involves a total of 13 accused, including Mohammad Jafri alias Shahid, Surendra Sharma, Mohammad Shahid, Firoz Qureshi, Afroz Khan alias Chunnu, and Zafar alias Chanda. On March 27, 2022, under the orders of DM Adarsh Singh, the police took action under the Gangster Act against these individuals. The matter is currently pending before the MP-MLA court in Barabanki.

Following the court's decision, Mukhtar Ansari's lawyer, Randhir Singh Suman, stated that they would file a revision petition in the High Court. The next hearing for the allegations against Mukhtar Ansari, Anand Yadav, and Shoaib Mujahid has been scheduled for June 9.
