A total of 46 candidates, including 44 independents, were in the fray. However, the main opposition party, AIADMK, along with other opposition parties, boycotted the polls, narrowing the contest to the DMK and NTK.
The Erode East constituency, with a total of 2,27,546 voters, recorded a turnout of 67.97% this year, down from 74.69% in the 2023 bypoll.
