Two earthquakes occurred in Assam on Saturday that jolted the Jorhart and Darrang districts. The first earthquake occurred in Jorhart, with a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter Scale. The earthquake hit 23km South of Jorhat, Assam today at around 9:03 am IST, National Center for Seismology said. The earthquake occurred in Jorhart at 09:03:09 IST, Lat: 26.54 N & Long: 94.23 E, Depth: 50 Km. Another earthquake of magnitude 2.8 occurred in the state which jolted the Darrang district.
Earthquake occurred in Darrang at 11:02:11 IST, Lat: 26.58 N & Long: 92.18 E, Depth: 9 Km. Last month, an earthquake of magnitude 4.0 struck Assam's Nagaon, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) informed.

An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 on the Richter scale hit the Kermadec Islands region of New Zealand on Saturday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported. The earthquake occurred at 03:44:10 (UTC+05:30) and hit New Zealand's Kermadec Islands on Saturday, at a depth of 10 km, the USGS informed. The earthquake's epicentre was 30.415°S and 176.629°W, respectively. No casualties have been reported yet.
Earlier in the day, an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 occurred 213 km east of Fayzabad, Afghanistan at 06:51:03 IST, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). "Earthquake of Magnitude:4.3, Occurred on 18-03-2023, 06:51:03 IST, Lat: 37.04 & Long: 72.96, Depth: 105 Km, Location: 213km E of Fayzabad, Afghanistan," NCS tweeted on Saturday. The quake struck at a depth of 105 kilometres at a latitude of 37.04 and a longitude of 72.96.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 hit 6 km South-West of the Goksun district on Saturday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The epicentre of the earthquake was found to be 37.974°N and 36.448°E respectively at a depth of 7 kilometres.
As per the USGS, the earthquake took place at 10:44:29 (UTC+05:30). No casualties have been reported so far.
