2 Earthquakes With Mild Intensity Jolt Leh, J&K's Kishtwar

Two earthquake of mild intensity hit Leh district in Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir' Kishtwar district in the early hours of Tuesday.

Two earthquakes of mild intensity hit Ladakh and Jammu Kashmir in the early hours of Tuesday, said the officials, adding there were no immediate reports of any damage due to the tremors, reported PTI. 

The epicentre of the two quakes were located in Ladakh’s Leh district and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, they added. 

The earthquake that hit Ladakh was measured 4.5 on the Richter scale and occurred at 4:33 am, as per the National Centre of Seismology (NCS). The depth of the earthquake was five kilometers below the surface of the earth at 34.73 degrees latitude and 77.07 degrees longitude, it said.

Residents in Kargil and Leh districts were awakened by the tremor but the police said there was no report of any damage from anywhere.

At around 1:10 am on Tuesday, an earthquake of magnitude 3.7 on the Richter scale shook Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. 

The depth of the quake was five km from the surface at 33.36 degrees latitude and 76.67 degrees longitude, the NCS said
