Due To Large Population, Water Security An Important Duty For India Too: PM Modi At Jal Jan Abhiyan
In his speech during Jal Jan Abhiyan event, Modi also highlighted that the whole world is celebrating International Millet Year and urged everyone to include coarse grain in their diets
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday highlighted the importance of water security in the country saying that due to the large population of India, water security is an important duty. Speaking at the ‘Jal-Jan Abhiyan’ of Brahma Kumaris in Rajasthan’s Sirohi via video message, PM Modi said, “Jal Jan Abhiyan is beginning at a time when water crisis is being globally seen as a crisis of the future. In the 21st century,the world is understanding the seriousness that the earth has limited water resources.”
“Due to such a large population, water security is an important duty for India too. It is our collective responsibility. That is why during Azadi ka Amrit Kaal, the country is viewing water in the form of a tomorrow like they say 'Jal hai toh kal hai,” he added.
“I am satisfied that the country is taking forward the resolution of water conservation in the form of a people's movement,” the Prime Minister said.

Underlining the contributions of women in water conservation, the Prime Minister said that women from the villages are leading important schemes like the Jal Jeevan Mission through water committees. He emphasised that Brahma Kumari sisters can play a similar role in the country as well as at the global level. He also touched upon the need to raise issues related to the environment along with water conservation.
In his speech, Modi also highlighted that the whole world is celebrating International Millet Year and urged everyone to include coarse grain in their diets. He underlined that Shree Anna Bajra and Shree Anna Jowar have been a part of India’s agriculture and food habits for centuries. He informed that millets are rich in nutrition and consume less water during cultivation.
Concluding the address, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the Jal-Jan Abhiyan will become successful with a joint effort and help in building a better India with a better future.
