New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday highlighted the importance of water security in the country saying that due to the large population of India, water security is an important duty. Speaking at the ‘Jal-Jan Abhiyan’ of Brahma Kumaris in Rajasthan’s Sirohi via video message, PM Modi said, “Jal Jan Abhiyan is beginning at a time when water crisis is being globally seen as a crisis of the future. In the 21st century, the world is understanding the seriousness that the earth has limited water resources.”

“Due to such a large population, water security is an important duty for India too. It is our collective responsibility. That is why during Azadi ka Amrit Kaal, the country is viewing water in the form of a tomorrow like they say 'Jal hai toh kal hai,” he added.

“I am satisfied that the country is taking forward the resolution of water conservation in the form of a people's movement,” the Prime Minister said.
