Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stones for 29 development projects in his Varanasi parliamentary constituency totaling more than Rs 12,100 crores on Friday. Taking a dig at Congress, PM Modi stated: "In the last nine years, we didn't work for just one family, or one generation, but worked for future generations," news agency PTI reported.
Addressing the public gathering, PM Modi said: "The poor & the backwards societies have the biggest right to the resources of the country. Earlier only rich people had access to the bank. If there is no one to take a guarantee, then how will the bank loan be available? In the last nine years, the BJP government changed this thinking and opened it for everyone. We opened about fifty crores of Jan Dhan bank accounts...Respect for the poor is Modi's guarantee."

Previous governments developed their plans while sitting in air-conditioned chambers, never seeing the ground realities, according to Prime Minister Modi. "Beneficiaries of govt schemes today have become examples of real secularism," he further stated.

When the prime minister arrived in Varanasi from Gorakhpur, he inaugurated the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction-Son Nagar railway line of the Dedicated Freight Corridor. The new line, which cost more than Rs 6,760 crore to build, would allow for faster and more efficient transit of commodities. He also set the groundwork for or launched a number of additional projects in Varanasi and the surrounding areas.
During the occasion, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present.
PM Modi Flags Off Two Vande Bharat Trains In UP's Gorakhpur
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday flagged off two Vande Bharat Express trains in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, bringing the country's total number of semi-high speed trains to 25. Speaking at the event, PM Modi said Vande Bharat trains have given a new flight to the middle class of the country with facilities and amenities.
Prime Minister Modi launched the Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express and Jodhpur - Ahmedabad (Sabarmati) Vande Bharat Express trains. PM Modi also launched the Gorakhpur railway station redevelopment project, which has been allocated Rs 498 crore.
"Vande Bharat train has given a new flight to the middle class of the country with facilities and amenities. Today, leaders from every corner of the country are writing letters to me asking that Vande Bharat be run from our region as well," PM Narendra Modi said.
Gita Press No Less Than A Temple For Crores Of People: PM Modi In Gorakhpur
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday attended the closing ceremony of the Gita Press centenary celebrations in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur. Addressing the public gathering, PM Modi stated: "Gita Press is the only printing press in the world which is not just an organisation, but a living faith. It is no less than a temple for crores of people," news agency ANI reported.
The prime minister emphasised Gita Press's contributions, stating that Mahatma Gandhi had an affiliation with it and used to write for Kalyan magazine.
Speaking about the Gandhi Peace Prize, PM Modi said: "On the occasion of Gita Press completing its 100 years, our government has conferred Gita Press with Gandhi Peace Prize. Gandhi Ji was emotionally attached to Gita Press. He once used to write for Gita Press through Kalyan Patrika."
