Deuba Discusses India-Nepal Boundary Issue With Modi, Seeks Bilateral Mechanism To Resolve Concerns
Deuba, who issued a joint statement with Prime Minister Modi in Delhi, said Nepal’s relationship with India is highly important, PTI reported.
New Delhi: Asserting that he discussed the boundary issue with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, Nepal Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday said he urged the former to resolve it through establishment of bilateral mechanism.
Deuba, who issued a joint statement with Prime Minister Modi in Delhi, said Nepal’s relationship with India is highly important, PTI reported.
He also admired the progress that India is making under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
“We have seen India’s effective management battling Covid-19 and received first vaccine aid from India as well as medicines, medical equipment and logistics to combat Covid,” Deuba said, ANI reported.

“I truly admire your love and affection for Nepal and the Nepali people and my visit today will further enforce these innate sentiments,” he added.
Deuba, who arrived in New Delhi on Friday afternoon on a three-day visit to India, further said that he and Prime Minister Modi had friendly talks and fruitful discussions on various aspects of the relations between the two sides.
“We shared our perspectives on further strengthening our friendly ties,” he added.
Nepal Prime Minister spoke about the border issue between the two countries, as he said: “We discussed boundary issue and I urged PM Modi to resolve it through establishment of bilateral mechanism”, PTI reported.
Prime Minister Modi on his part said India has been a firm companion in Nepal's journey of peace, prosperity and development.
“Deuba ji is an old friend of India. As the PM, this is his fifth visit to India. He has played an important role in developing India-Nepal relations,” Prime Minister Modi said.
“The friendship between India and Nepal, the relation between our people - such an example can't be seen anywhere else in the world,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi said that they agreed to give priority to trade and cross-border connectivity initiatives between the two countries.
Asserting “our joint vision statement on power cooperation will prove to be the blueprint of cooperation in the future”, Prime Minister Modi said: “We discussed various aspects of our cooperation, reviewed the progress of various projects and also discussed the blueprint of the future.”
“Both of us agree that we must reap the benefits of the opportunities for cooperation in the power sector,” he added.
