Delhi Weather Today: No Relief From Heatwave In Sight As IMD Forecasts Sizzling Mercury Levels. Check Details

Heatwave to severe heatwave is expected to continue in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh among other regions till May 25.

The heatwave continues to grill Delhi, Haryana, Punjab along with other parts of the country with no respite in sight. According to the India Meteorological Department, the national capital will have no relief from heatwave in coming days with maximum temperature crossing 40 degrees Celsius at many places. 

The weather department also said that Chandigarh is likely to record a maximum temperature of 44°C today with 'mainly clear sky'.

The maximum temperatures expected to be recorded at various weather stations are: Safdarjung and Palam at 42.40°C, Lodhi Road at 41.4°C, Ridge at 41.5°C, Ayanagar at 42.4°C, Jafarpur at 43.8°C.

Over the past 24 hours till 8:30 am on Tuesday, heatwave to severe heatwave conditions prevailed over Haryana and Delhi and some parts of Punjab, according to the IMD. 

Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh alo continued to sizzle under heatwave conditions, said the weather department. 

Heat wave conditions have been prevailing over Gujarat region since May 15, Saurashtra and Kutch since May 16 over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan since May 17, the weatherman said. 

Sirsa in Haryana recorded the maximum temperature in the country on Tuesday at 47.8°C, followed by Pilani (47.2°C), Bhatinda and Agra (46.6°C), Ratlam (45.6°C), Surendranagar (45.4°C), Akola (44.0°C), Durg (43.6°C), Una (42.4°C), and Naupada (42.2°C). 

As per the IMD, Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in many or most pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh-Delhi, West Rajasthan, some parts of West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan and northwest Madhya Pradesh May 25.

Heatwave conditions are also likely to prevail in East Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, northeast Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha till May 25 and in north Maharashtra till May 24.
