Sikhs Protest, Raise Slogans Near British High Commission Over Pulling Down Of Tricolour In London. WATCH

India on Sunday night summoned the British deputy high commissioner and requested clarification over the total "absence of security".

A number of Sikhs gathered outside the British High Commission in Chanakyapuri on Monday and held a protest against pro-Khalistan separatists who had earlier removed the Indian flag from the Indian High Commission in London, reported news agency ANI.

Carrying the tricolour and placards, protesters raised the slogan "Bharat humara swabhiman hai (India is our pride)" and said that they won't endure any affront to the public banner.

On Sunday, a group of protesters waving separatist Khalistani flags and chanting pro-Khalistani slogans grabbed the tricolor flying atop the Indian High Commission in London. This led to an arrest related to the violent disorder.

The "attempted but failed" attack had been stopped, according to mission officials, and the tricolor was now "grander." According to the Metropolitan Police, two security guards suffered minor injuries that did not necessitate hospitalization. A probe has been established.

India on Sunday night summoned the British deputy high commissioner and requested clarification over the total "absence of security".

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a strong statement that India finds the UK government's lack of concern for the safety of Indian diplomatic facilities and staff in the UK "unacceptable."

Top British officials have decried the vandalism at the Indian High Commission as "disgraceful" and "completely unacceptable" and stated that the UK government will take the mission's security "seriously."

Sikhs For Justice, a banned terrorist group, is holding a "Referendum 2020" in Punjab amid a crackdown on Amritpal Singh, a pro-Khalistan leader.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Police claimed on Monday that it has used the harsh National Security Act (NSA) against five persons connected to extremist preacher Amritpal Singh's 'Waris Punjab De', news agency PTI reported.

Punjab Police Inspector General Sukhchain Singh Gill on Monday said that there was a "strong suspicion" on the angle of foreign funding and ISI in the Amritpal Singh case and added that six criminal cases have been registered against the pro-Khalistan outfit.

Speaking at a press conference in Chandigarh, the top cop said Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh is still abscoding and the Punjab police is making efforts to nab him.

Flag marches are being conducted and peace committee meeting are being held in all the districts and the condition in Punjab is stable, he added.

The six criminal cases registered against Waris Punjab De includes charges of creating disharmony, obstruction to police perosnnel and attack on police personnel, Gill said.
