Delhi’s Oxygen Requirement Down: AAP Govt Asks Centre To Redirect Surplus To Other States

“The Delhi Government has written to the Centre, urging it to give the surplus oxygen to other states. We are a responsible government,” he added.

New Delhi: Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday said the national capital’s oxygen requirement has dipped from 700 metric tonnes a day to 582 metric tonnes, adding the Delhi Government has written to the Central Government to give surplus oxygen from its quota to other states.

“Today, after assessment of the Covid-19 situation, Delhi’s oxygen need is 582 MT per day. As a responsible government, we will give the surplus oxygen to the states who need it,” Sisodia told the media here.

Sisodia said the number of new cases has come down to around 10,400 from a high of around 28,000 and added the positivity rate has dipped from 35 percent to 14 percent.

“More beds are available in the Covid hospitals now and the demand for oxygen has also dipped…The number of oxygen-related SOS calls from hospitals has also reduced sharply,” he said.

Delhi reported 10,489 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 13,72,475. The national capital currently has 77,717 active Covid-19 cases.

15,189 people recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the recoveries so far to 12,74,140, while 308 people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 20,618, according to a health bulletin issued by the Delhi Government.
