Delhi Records Six New Cases Of Omicron Variant, Know State-Wise Break Up

The national capital has detected six new cases of the Covid variant Omicron taking the tally in Delhi to 28.

New Delhi: Six new cases of Omicron variant have been detected in New Delhi day taking the total tally of the city up to 28. Delhi Health Ministry said that out of these 28 patients, 12 have been discharged and 16 are under treatment.

Among the six new cases, four of the patients infected with the variant, are admitted to Max hospital.

As the number of Omicron cases continues to surge in the country, India has recorded 159 cases of the variant till now which is likely to surge in the coming days.

Maharashtra

Maharashtra's Omicron tally rose to 54 after six persons tested positive for the variant in the state. According to a report by PTI, While two of these patients had a history of travel to Tanzania, two others had returned from England and one from the Middle East. All five of them are fully vaccinated.

Gujarat

Gujarat also registered four new cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus on Monday. 

A 45-year-old NRI and a teenage boy who came from the UK, a Surat-based woman who had recently visited Dubai and a Tanzanian national are the new patients of the Omicron variant in Gujarat. 

Karnataka

Five more cases of Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus were found in Karnataka taking the total to 19.

According to Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar, the five cases were detected on Sunday in Dharwad, Bhadravathi in Shivamogga district, Udupi and Mangaluru.

He said a 54-year old man from Dharwad, a 20-year old woman from Bhadravathi, a 82-year old man and a 73-year old woman from Udupi, and a 19-year old woman from Mangaluru contracted the Omicron variant.

All the infected people have been inoculated with both the doses of Covishield vaccine. Their travel history and contacts with international travellers are being ascertained.

None of them has any COVID-19 symptoms and were healthy, the department said.
