Delhi Police Transfer Dwarka DCP Days After Being Accused Of Creating Ruckus At Pub

The development comes after a woman suffered a head injury from a shattered glass during a private birthday party at a cafe-cum-bar on Friday night.

New Delhi's Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shankar Choudhary was transferred to the police technology and implementation department on Tuesday days after his alleged involvement in a ruckus that broke out at a cafe-cum-bar in south Delhi's Kailash Colony, news agency PTI reported. According to Delhi Police, Chaudhary has been removed from Dwarka district and posted as the DCP, police technology and implementation.

Additional DCP (south) M Harsha Vardhan has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Dwarka.

The development comes after a woman suffered a head injury from a shattered glass during a private birthday party at the cafe-cum-bar on Friday night. Administrative action was taken against Choudhary after victim's husband called police and alleged the involvement of the DCP.

Several media reports claim that Choudhary who was also present at the birthday party allegedly created ruckus and was seen throwing glasses which hit the woman on her head and injured her. She was taken to Max Hospital for treatment.

After receiving three stitches, the woman claimed that the officer's name came up due to a "miscommunication". In a video, she said the matter was personal and was resolved, PTI reported.

Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana had ordered Choudhary's removal from duty a day after the incident took place and even directed him to report to the police headquarters for further orders.

Even the cafe-cum-bar 'Unculture' was booked by Delhi Police for allegedly functioning beyond the permissible time limit of 1 am.

FIR was registered against the bar under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Greater Kailash police station.
