Delhi HC Expresses Concern Over Rise In Vector-Borne Diseases Amid Covid Spread, Seeks Report On Action Taken
Taking suo motu cognizance of the mosquito infestation in the national capital, a bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Jameet Singh took said that the steps to be taken by the Delhi government and civic authorities have taken a back seat on account of the prevailing pandemic, adding they need to pull up their socks.
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday expressed concern over mosquito infestation in the national capital and said if the situation is not controlled immediately then the rise in vector-borne diseases could lead to more problems and complexities amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Taking suo motu cognizance of the mosquito infestation in the national capital, a bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Jameet Singh said that the steps to be taken by the Delhi government and civic authorities have taken a back seat on account of the prevailing pandemic, adding they need to pull up their socks.

The High Court directed the Delhi government, three MCDs, Delhi Cantonment and New Delhi Municipal Council to file their status reports on the steps already taken and to be undertaken on mosquito infestation, PTI reported.
The High Court, which listed the case for hearing before a bench headed by the Chief Justice on May 28, said one sees a surge in cases of chikungunya and dengue every year during and after the monsoon.
Meanwhile, Delhi on Monday recorded 1,550 fresh Covid-19 cases and 207 new fatalities while the positivity rate stands at 2.52 percent.
