Delhi Bomb Blast: Police Finds Letter From Explosion Site Saying 'This Is Just A Trailer', India On Alert

An envelope addressed to the Israeli Embassy and containing a note was found at the site of the IED blast near the Israel Embassy in Delhi on Friday, sources said.

The national capital Delhi and the financial capital Mumbai is on high alert after a blast near Israel Embassay occurred on Friday night. While no injuries were reported, officials said some cars were damaged in the blast, adding that three fire tenders were rushed to the embassy situated on APJ Abdul Kalam Road.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) issued an alert at all airports, important installations, and government buildings in view of the blast and security have been beefed up at all government offices. Security has also been increased at the office of the Consulate General of Israel in Mumbai.

According to sources, an envelope has been recovered from the blast site on which the address of the Israeli embassy is written. Sources also mentioned that the note inside the letter said, 'This was just a trailer'. The blast was done when a beating retreat was going on at Vijay Chowk in Delhi.

The sources said that CCTVs have also been found in which 2 people can be seen during the blast. Home Ministry has ordered a high-level probe in the whole incident.

Earlier, the Additional Public Relations Officer of Delhi Police, Anil Mittal said that some cars were damaged in the blast in a very safe area and preliminary investigation found that someone had done this mischief to create a sensation.

IB and NIA are investigating

While investigating the case, the IB and NIA collected samples of ball bearings with explosives outside the Israeli embassy. A half-burnt pink 'dupatta' has also been recovered from the site and have been sent for further probe.

Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement saying there were no casualties in the blast and no damage to the embassy building.

"There were no casualties in the blast and no damage to the embassy building. The incident is under investigation by the authorities in India who are in contact with the relevant Israeli authorities," the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also spoke to his Israeli counterpart and said he has been assured of the "fullest protection for the Embassy and Israeli diplomats"

After the blast, Home Minister Amit Shah took stock of the situation. He also canceled his planned visit to West Bengal today.

Meanwhile, the blast is being investigated as an attempted terrorist attack. According to Reuters, Israeli securities are suspecting the low-intensity IED explosion as a planted terrorist attack and are checking if the terrorists wanted to target the Israeli embassy.
